Dr. Vivienne Malone-Mayes

In 1961, Vivienne Malone-Mayes was turned away from Baylor University for her doctoral degree because of her race. Five years later, she was hired as Baylor's first black professor. In 2019, the university recognized her with a bust and wall of honor -- the first sculpture of a female professor or alumna on campus.
